ArcheAge Chronicles Early Access Goes Live November 4: Unlock Times, Classes, Coilstone Progression and Week-One Prep
ArcheAge Chronicles Early Access Goes Live November 4: Unlock Times, Classes, Coilstone Progression and Week-One Prep
XLGAMES has locked it in. ArcheAge Chronicles, the open-world action MMORPG built in Unreal Engine 5, enters Steam Early Access on November 4 at 7:00 AM Beijing Time — November 3 in North America — and pre-purchases are already open at $29.99. With a few days left before the gates open, here is everything XLGAMES has actually confirmed, plus a prioritized list of what to get done before the servers come up.
1. Get the unlock time right — it lands on a different calendar day depending on where you live
This is the easiest thing to get wrong. The Steam store page lists the release date as November 4, which reflects UTC and most Asian time zones, while Western players will see November 3 on their calendars. Same moment, two dates:
|
Region |
Unlock time |
|
Beijing Time |
November 4 (Wed) 07:00 |
|
Seoul / Tokyo |
November 4, 08:00 |
|
UTC |
November 3, 23:00 |
|
US Pacific (PST) |
November 3, 15:00 |
|
US Eastern (EST) |
November 3, 18:00 |
|
Central Europe (CET) |
November 4, 00:00 |
Asian players get the friendliest slot of the lot — log in after breakfast, no all-nighter required. If you want to be in the first wave, have the client installed and your login sorted by 6:30 AM.
2. What the $29.99 buy-in actually gets you
ArcheAge Chronicles is buy-to-play: 29.99** in North America, **₩36,000** in Korea, **¥128** in China (noticeably below the currency conversion), and **NT690 in Taiwan. There is no subscription, and XLGAMES has committed to selling nothing that affects combat power. The in-game shop will not even be open at Early Access launch, and once it does open, it is limited to cosmetics, convenience items and story DLC.
Here is what is confirmed for the Early Access build:
- Three regions — Diamond Shores, Gylden Ruins and Astron Plains — split into 60+ sub-areas, making the explorable world roughly 20 times the size of the October Next Fest demo;
- 30+ hours of main and side story, on top of 1,000+ exploration and collection objectives scattered across the map, with roughly 300–400 hidden elements per major region;
- Dungeons and raids — instances are built for solo play or a party of up to four, alongside large-scale raids, world bosses and random encounters;
- PvP, running through the game's Peace and Conflict channel structure;
- Life skills from day one — housing, crafting, trade runs, gliders and underwater exploration.
One caveat worth keeping in mind: this is a 9 to 12 month Early Access period, with the full release planned for late 2027. Gliders, ocean trade, housing and crafting all ship at launch, but they will keep deepening over the coming months. Treat Early Access as the first half of a game that is still being built, and your expectations will line up with reality.
3. Classes and weapons — what is officially confirmed and what is press-compiled
Four classes at launch, two weapons each, eight distinct combat styles in total. One important caveat before you commit: XLGAMES has only officially confirmed the Warrior's longsword and greatsword, and the Ranger's use of hatchets. The rest of the pairings below come from press coverage and hands-on demo write-ups, so do not treat this table as gospel:
|
Class |
Launch weapons (official + press-compiled) |
Third weapon |
|
Warrior |
Longsword, Greatsword |
Gladius (first December update, previewed by XLGAMES) |
|
Ranger |
Hatchets (officially confirmed), Longbow |
Crossbow (unconfirmed) |
|
Mage |
Elemental Staff, Wavesword |
Life Staff (unconfirmed) |
|
Berserker |
Axe, Greatshield |
Warhammer (unconfirmed) |
Two things that should shape your opening pick:
- Gender locks are still in at launch. All four classes are gender-locked, and it has been the single loudest piece of community feedback since the September network test. XLGAMES has confirmed the work is underway and will roll out class by class, starting with the Warrior — the first December update brings the female Warrior, with the remaining classes following through Early Access and all locks removed by full release. If character creation matters to you, decide now whether you start on launch day or wait for December.
- Every weapon has its own trait tree, and you can equip two at once and swap on the fly. Weapon choice directly changes how you fight — this is a block, parry, dodge and punish-window action system, not tab-target standing still. Picking a class really means picking which two weapons you want to learn first, not signing away your build forever.
4. How progression works — EXP from exploration, trait points from bosses
Learn this before launch and you will save yourself a lot of wasted hours:
- Most of your EXP comes from quests, discoveries and points of interest, not mob grinding. Following the main story and clearing the map beats camping a spawn every time on day one;
- Stat points come from leveling across six stats — Strength, Agility, Constitution, Intelligence, Talent and Endurance. One point buys one stat, and you can preview the change before committing;
- Trait points come from Raeven's Coilstones. Every Coilstone sits next to a powerful boss — some in plain sight, some buried deep in the map, some behind quest lines. In other words, the ceiling on your weapon trait tree is set by how much of the world's boss roster you have actually killed;
- Nui Tears handed in at a Nui Statue raise your max HP, with each increase costing a few more tears than the last;
- Hersander's Tower puzzles in each zone ask for a specific item. Clear all of them for a unique accessory and unlock the Hereafter Challenge — a timed fight against a buffed-up version of that zone's boss, with a leaderboard attached.
Two more details worth memorizing: chests can be opened once per character, so there is no racing other players for loot, and dungeon and instance progress now survives a disconnect in every Early Access region.
5. The 100-player channel system — what it means for open-world play and the economy
ArcheAge Chronicles does not funnel everyone into one shared megaserver map. The world is split into separate channels, and XLGAMES has said each channel holds roughly 100 players, supported by Peace and Conflict channels, cross-channel parties and a direct jump to the party leader's channel. The stated reason is blunt and welcome: they do not want forty players sprinting in to delete your world boss mid-fight.
Two practical consequences for players:
- Far less contest pressure. World bosses and field elites stop being a reflex-speed race, and group play returns to something closer to "fight the thing properly";
- Trade and crafting economies will run channel-local, which means Early Access supply and demand will swing hard. That is exactly the window life-skill players want to be sitting in — with no cash shop at launch, player-to-player trade is the only channel for moving resources around.
Launch also adds dedicated servers in Brazil and Singapore. Players in Asia will generally want to check which region the client auto-selects and switch manually if the default is not the lowest-latency option for them.
6. Your 72-hour pre-launch checklist
Now through the evening of November 3
- Pre-purchase and claim the Dawn Pioneer Set — the pre-order exclusive costume, issued for one class of your choice, redeemable in-game once Early Access opens;
- Pre-load the client. The full build is available on the Steam page ahead of unlock, and it wants 100 GB of space. Clear your SSD now, not five minutes before launch;
- Check your rig. Minimum is Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12. Recommended is Windows 11 with an i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB RAM and an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB (or RX 7700 XT). Unreal Engine 5 is hungry for VRAM — if you are below recommended, plan to drop a preset;
- Lock in your class and your two opening weapons using the table above, so you are not re-rolling at 7 AM;
- Line up your group. Dungeons run solo or in a party of four, but raids and world bosses go a lot smoother with a crew.
After unlock on November 4
- Push the main story and map exploration first, since that is where the EXP is, and note Coilstone boss locations as you go — those trait points are your power ceiling;
- Get into the trading company quest line early. The story opens with you arriving on Auroria as part of an established trading company, and the main thread pulls you into the aftermath of an airship crash.
November into December
- Watch the first December update — female Warrior plus the Warrior's third weapon, the Gladius, with the remaining classes getting their third weapon and gender options on subsequent patches;
- Make time for life skills. Housing, crafting, trade runs, gliders and underwater exploration are all in the launch build, and Early Access land and material prices tend to set the baseline for the patches that follow.
7. Gold, trades and account safety — a few straight answers
Buy-to-play and no power-selling does not mean resources stop changing hands. Housing plots, crafting materials, trade route costs and raid consumables all end up priced in gold, and Early Access markets move daily. A few lines worth holding:
- Before servers open, treat anyone claiming they can deliver ArcheAge Chronicles gold right now as a scam. There is no live economy to deliver from yet. Pages that are already listed generally only start moving real volume once the game is up and stock exists — confirm the delivery window before you order;
- Split larger purchases into smaller ones. Ordering a lump sum during a price-swing week is how buyers lose money;
- Never hand over your account password to a third party, and never route gold through a middleman. The game ships with XIGNCODE3 anti-cheat, and an account-level sanction is not worth the shortcut.
If you need gold once the servers settle, or you want to head back to the original ArcheAge (or ArcheAge Unchained) while you wait and build up your account there, both SSEGold and PVPBank run pages for it:
8. FAQ
Is ArcheAge Chronicles free to play? No. It is buy-to-play at $29.99 with no subscription. The cash shop is closed at Early Access launch, and XLGAMES has committed to selling nothing that affects combat power — cosmetics, convenience items and story DLC only.
Is it a sequel to ArcheAge? It is set 50 years after the original, on the same continent of Auroria, and is positioned as a spiritual successor to the IP. XLGAMES develops and self-publishes it; the legacy ArcheAge IP and mobile business were handed over to Kakao Games. Original game accounts carry nothing over.
Which platforms? Steam on PC for Early Access. The official site also lists Epic Games, PlayStation and Xbox pages, but those are wishlist pages only with no dates attached.
Will Early Access wipe? XLGAMES has announced no wipes for the Early Access period. The free Next Fest demo in October was a test build and did not carry progress into Early Access.
What are the PC requirements? Minimum: Windows 10 64-bit, 16 GB RAM, DirectX 12, 100 GB storage. Recommended: Windows 11, i7-12700 or Ryzen 7 5700X, 32 GB RAM, RTX 4060 Ti 16GB or RX 7700 XT. The launch build adds shader compilation screens to cut down on black-screen issues.
The next three things to do
- Pre-purchase and pre-load today, and leave 100 GB free;
- Log in when servers open, main story first, and log Coilstone boss locations as you pass them — that is your trait tree's starting point;
- If you are a life-skill player, track the first week's trade prices closely. No cash shop plus channel-local economies means this window tends to set the baseline for months.
See you on Auroria, November 4.
